Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Interlibrary Loan can help you get access to library materials that Pierce Library doesn't own or have access to, including books, journal articles, newspaper and magazine articles, and other items. Interlibrary Loan services are available to EOU students, faculty, and staff, and to Town Patrons as described in Pierce Library's Circulation Policy
Pierce Library does not charge for Interlibrary Loan services and tries to borrow from institutions who do not charge for lending their materials. Some requests for rare materials may require fees, but you will be notified and no fees will be incurred without your approval.
If you are sure EOU doesn't have the article, go directly to the article request form.
Otherwise, check to see if articles are available at EOU by entering the citation information into Find It. Citations in article databases often include a Find It button that will perform the same search for you.
If the article is not available at EOU, your Find It results will include a link labeled "Request document via Interlibrary Loan." Choose that link, then fill out the article request form to submit your request.
Article requests usually take about four days, but always allow as much time as possible.
Most article requests are fulfilled with digital copies. You will receive an email with instructions for downloading your files.
If you can't find it in the EOU or Summit Catalog, search WorldCat. WorldCat results will include a link labeled "Request from Interlibrary Loan."
If you can't find the book in WorldCat, fill out the book request form.
Books requested from Summit usually arrive within three or four days. WorldCat requests often take seven to ten days. Always allow as much time as possible.
Conditions of use depend on the policies of the lending library. The amount of time you have to use the book may vary, and renewals may or may not be allowed. Lending libraries may also place other restrictions, such as requiring that materials be used within the library, or that photocopying is not permitted.
Summit items cannot be renewed. To request a renewal for a WorldCat item, contact the Interlibrary Loan department by email or phone at least two days before the due date. Be sure to include your full name and the title of the item you wish to renew.
DVDs, CDs, and other materials
Search for and request these items like books. Many libraries do not lend these items, and so it may not always be possible to obtain them.
